FDA Update on Zantac/Ranitidine
SEPTEMBER 13, 2019 — The FDA has learned that some ranitidine medicines, including Zantac, contain a nitrosamine impurity called N-nitrosodimethylamine (NDMA) at low levels. NDMA is classified as a probable human carcinogen (a substance that could cause cancer) based on results from laboratory tests.
The FDA has NOT issued a recall and is not calling for individuals to stop taking Zantac at this time. However, patients with questions or patients who would like some alternative options, should call our office at (757) 481-4383.

RECALL: Montelukast 10mg Tablets
AUGUST 31, 2018 — Camber Pharmaceuticals recently recalled one lot of montelukast 10mg tablets after one bottle was found to contain losartan 50mg tablets.
Recall of montelukast tablets, 10mg, 30-count bottles by Camber Pharmaceuticals, Inc.; NDC Number: 31722-0726-30; Lot Number: MON17384; Expiration Date: Dec. 31, 2019.
Camber Pharmaceuticals advises:
– Recalled drug should not be used. Return the tablets to the pharmacy that filled the prescription.
– These tablets should be beige, rounded square shape, with “I” on one side and “144” on the other side.
