A Message To All Of Our Patients:

We are pleased to announce that we will be starting our allergy injections (immunotherapy) program on June 1, 2020.

We hope that you and your family have remained safe and well during these difficult past few months. We have certainly missed being able to see our patients in person. Our telemedicine visits have made it very apparent the benefits that allergy immunotherapy provide our patients.

In order to maximize safety for our patients and employees, we have implemented some important changes outlined below.

We believe these changes will help minimize the risk of COVID-19 infections and also allow us to resume more aggressive treatment of allergies and asthma.

It is also our intention to resume in-person visits in the near future as well -– please stay tuned for an announcement regarding this. But for now, this announcement pertains only to allergy injections (immunotherapy).

Please keep in mind that the changes we are suggesting may evolve with time. Hopefully, as the incidence of COVID-19 infections abate, we will be able to relax some of the practices and get back to a more “normal” routine.

Whatever transpires, we are committed to maintaining your good health. As always, we appreciate your patience and understanding during these unprecedented times.

Allergy injections will now be offered by appointment only. This should help maintain social distancing by eliminating excess traffic in our lobbies and exam rooms.

Prior to your appointment, we will review your chart to determine your restart dose and build up schedule, which we will give at your first shot appointment.

At the time you make your appointment, our staff will ask some simple screening questions. When you arrive for your scheduled allergy injections, one of our staff will meet you in our building lobby or parking lot to provide additional instructions.

At that time, we will also check your temperature and pulse ox (oxygen level). Please wear a respiratory mask-barrier to your appointment and sanitize your hands upon arrival and departure from the office.

We request that you bring at least one friend/family member to wait with you after you receive your injections. Please have your friend/family member wait for you in your vehicle.

Once you receive your injections, please wait for thirty minutes in your vehicle.

Please come to your appointment with your epinephrine autoinjector (e.g. EpiPen, Auvi-Q, etc), as well. If you lack an epinephrine autoinjector, please inform us so that one may be prescribed ahead of time.

As well, we request that asthmatic patients also bring their albuterol inhaler to their appointment. We reserve the right to deny your allergy immunotherapy injections if you fail to bring your epinephrine autoinjector and albuterol.

In the event of an allergic reaction, we ask that you or your friend/family member alert us so that treatment can be administered.

If you are unable to come in with a friend/family member, we will have you wait in our lobby. We will make every effort possible to continually sanitize areas of contact.

New allergy shot protocol

• Allergy shots are by appointment only. Please call to schedule your appointment.

• You must bring a current epinephrine autoinjector to your appointment.

• If you have asthma, you must bring a current albuterol inhaler.

• You must wear a mask to your shot appointment.

• Your temperature and oxygen level will be taken at your appointment.

• To maintain social distancing, you will wait 30 minutes after your shots in your vehicle.

• Please bring someone who can come in and alert us if you are having a problem after your shots. That person is not to enter the office with you, however.

• A parent will still accompany their minor child.

• You will be given follow-up appointments for your subsequent shots, every 10-14 days until you are back on maintenance.
